With the end of the season looming and the weather still looking good the promise of getting another game for the 4s was looking good, availability was good. Unfortunately other teams were not in the same position. The fixture secretary dug deep and worked his magic, managing to sort out a very last minute away game Vs Sissinghurst.

We arrived to a very warm welcome. After a brief conversation it was transpired that Sissinghurst's 2 had won division 7, been promoted to div 6 and their original oppo simply conceded last minute. At this point we realised that this was going to be harder than first thought. Sissinghurst won the toss and elected to bat.

After a quick count of heads, we realised that we were a man down. Fortunately Wayne Church (father of Adam) stepped up to make us 11. Adam opened the bowling and was bowling some fantastic balls, only conceding 11 runs from his 5 overs, and taking out their opener with a glorious catch from Simpson. 5-1-11-1. Allsebrook opened the other end, after a slightly shaky start he relaxed and got into the swing of the game. After a couple of tweaks he bowled the perfect ball, landing it on middle stump. The new batsman was more attacking but Allsebrook read this and in his 5 over took out the new batsman in his first ever senior Wicket maiden. 5-1-15-2. Ted Gagg and Simpson were up next. They continued the pressure, Gagg getting a maiden first over and a wicket maiden in his 5 over. 5-2-10-1. Simpson was on point but unlucky not to get a wicket. But with 3 maidens. (Which could have been 4, had he put a little more energy in to stopping the ball when it was gently sent back to him) But some cracking figures all the same. 5-3-8-0. At drinks Sissinghurst were at 50 for 4 (18).

Unfortunately at this point, play cricket decided to have a hissy fit and stopped uploading. So the match report is from memory.

Norris came on for Gagg. The batsmen must have had a chat at drinks saying that they were a little behind, as they started to up the run rate. Norris had a different opinion about this and despite them coming at him he knocked them back by taking not one, not two but four wickets in his senior debut. Guttsy bowled some lovely balls penning them in, the fielding was solid by everyone with Wayne and George stopping some crucial 4s. Ludders took a wicket in the final over. They finished on 128. Our young team had held a very strong division 7 winning team down to an achievable target.

Guttsey and Blythin opened. Their opening bowler was in very good form swinging it in perfectly. Unfortunately Guttsey, Blythin, Ludders and Simpson all found this out the hard way. Church was joined by Tank when the scoreboard was showing 13 for 4 (7) the pair saw off the in form bowler and started to make headway. They made the most of the gaps in the field and brought the game back to life Church going out on 35 (48). Tank rode his luck finishing on 29 (26) but crucially the score was now 82 for 6 (15). Allsebrook got another 15. T Gagg, Norris helping us to get to 103 (21) At this point W Church and G Gagg were in the driving seat. Unfortunately W Church hadn't played cricket since he was 12 and was looking a little nervous. After he had faced the first ball he started to relax. A few balls later he sent the ball over the bowlers head and was off the mark. G Gagg got a lovely 4 and the pair continued. Allsebrook then points out to his captain that with 12 overs remaining and only 18 required, they just need to survive and make the most of the bad balls. Unfortunately 2 balls later W Church was bowled out. It was a close game to a very strong side.
