I am sure that many of you will have noticed an extra addition to the Green this season, in the form of a brand new electronic scoreboard, which is rolled out to the Church Lane corner each weekend.
The investment in this visually impactful piece of new equipment has been made possible by the support of long time club member, player and supporter - Noel Arasaratnam.
HUGE THANKS to Noel for this generous donation!
Having represented Bearsted CC for a number of years, as a talented wicket-keeper batsman, club stalwart Noel Arasaratnam now enjoys nothing more than spending his weekend afternoons on the Green watching his team perform. The 132 on the scoreboard is representative of Noel's highest batting inning for the club.
Additionally, Noel now has even more reason to stay invoved in the club with three generations of his family now enjoying their cricket at BCC - his daughter, Charmaine (BCC Womens), and her two children Solomon and Norah (BCC U9s & U7s) - see image. Noel also still enjoys the social side of his cricket, supporting many if not all of our annual Bearsted CC events, and will be the first to hit the dance floor to cut some shapes during any social!
As an avid fan of the tactics at play in cricket, Noel is keen to keep up to date on the state of the match at all times, and so it was important to be able to clearly see the scoreboard - especially from his favoured seating position on the Green. To enhance his enjoyment of the game, and to also provide support to the club he has been involved with for nearly 40 years, Noel wanted to make this extremely kind donation, a donation which allowed us to purchase this excellent new piece of kit - and that continues to help us drive our historical village cricket club forward for the community for future generations of cricketers.
THANKS AGAIN NOEL! We look forward to seeing you continuing to dance and enjoying your cricket on the Green for years to come...
