Bad weekend for the U11's as they suffer back to back defeats

Over the weekend Bearsted U11's suffered back to back defeats.

On Saturday, they took on Addington Vipers in a friendly hardball game. Bowling first they never managed to get on top of the Addington batsman who steadily accumulated runs throughout their 20 overs. Despite their best efforts the Vipers ended on 312-7. Wickets were shared between Oliie (2-17), Euan (1-27) and Rory (1-11), plus 3 run outs.

Coming out to bat Bearsted knew they needed to keep wickets to build a good response. unfortunately they lost a wicket to the very first ball. The batsmen continued to struggle to score with a steady stream of wickets which only changed when the last pair of Oliie and Louis French decided to take on the bowlers adding 30 runs with Louis hitting 6 boundaries in their 4 overs., hitting 29 runs on his own to secure the Man of the Match award.

A total of 258-11 meant Bearsted suffered a 54 run defeat. Despite this the game had lots of positives as a number played their first hardball game of the season and in some cases their first ever, all gaining invaluable experience in their development.

On Sunday Bearsted travelled to the swanky Marden sports ground to try and get their league season back on track after a run of defeats.

After losing the toss, Bearsted captained by Lucas took to the field hoping to take quick wickets. Unfortunately the Marden batsmen took advantage of a very quick outfield steadily hitting boundaries and not losing their first wicket till the 10th over. Finishing on 111-4 Bearsted had managed to pull them back towards the end with wickets shared between Tom (1-12), Rob (1-10), Lucas (1-12) and Alex (1-3).

They got off to a flying start as Lucas unleashed on the Marden attack hitting 6 boundaries in his 27. Unfortunately the next pair of Luke and Henry lost 4 wickets and things continued in the same vein as wickets were lost to basic straight bowling, with Leo the only batsman to get into double figures. Ending on just 60-12, a 51 run defeat finished a pretty miserable weekend for the Under 11's and their very grumpy coach.
