Big win for Bearsted against LBJ

Bearsted's Under 11's got the weekend off to a brilliant start with a big win against LBJ on a clear day on the green.

After electing to bat first, Captain for the day, Drew Kennedy led the side with lots of enthusiasm. The first two Bearsted pairs of Drew/Rob Maughan and Luke Merry / Ashley Nix added 22 runs each for no loss, setting a solid start. The French brothers looked to continue this positive start but unfortunately lost two wickets, one the result of some keystone cop running between the wickets!! Unfortunately the next pair of Angus Kenny and Tom Wentzell didn't get much to hit due to some wayward LBJ bowling, and the last pair of Leo Petty and Euan Coveney saw them home to a very healthy 335-2 without any further dramas, hitting three boundaries between them.

Defending a big score Bearsted were able to apply early pressure on LBJ, achieving success in the first over. Wickets were shared across the bowling attack, as they restricted LBJ to a score of 249-9. The pick of the bowlers were Angus Kenny with figures of 2-0-1, Rob Maughan 2-2-1 and Drew with 2-5-2.

it was a much improved overall performance typified by a positive and enthusiastic approach to the game by all the players in everything they did. Accurate bowling is still an issue as reflected in extras gifting LBJ 63 runs....so more practice required, but overall a very good result!!
