Bearsted Under 11's draw first match of the season

On an overcast Saturday morning Bearsted Under 11's began their season taking on Linton on the Green.
Electing to bat first Bearsted's captain, Lucas Brookman, alongside Luca Callander endured a tough start against some accurate Linton bowling but still added 16 from the first 4 overs.
The Linton attack soon began to get the better as the middle part of the batting was characterised by poor shot selection and suicidal running which gifted Linton a steady stream of wickets.
However due to some composed batting from the last pairs, particularly Leo Petty and Drew Kennedy who added 20 runs in their allotted overs, Bearsted managed to get to a respectable total of 264. Top scorer was Louie French with 17 including 3 boundaries in one over.
After a quick break Linton's batsmen were kept under control by some accurate Bearsted bowling but no wickets fell until the 5th over as Linton quickly lost 4 wickets in three overs with Ollie French, Joe Salisbury and a run out accounting for the comeback. But just as the tide seemed to be turning in Bearsted's favour the heavens opened forcing players and supporters to seek refuge in the clubhouse. With no end of the rain in sight both teams coaches agreed to call it a day and agreed a share of the points.
