Bearsted's Captain Henry Shepherd elected to put Cranbrook into bat first which proved to be an inspired decision. The opening bowling pair of Spencer Pitt and Drew Kennedy got things off to a great start taking five wickets in the first 4 overs. Despite a flourish by the next Cranbrook pair who added 32 runs, Bearsted's young team soon took back the initiative taking regular wickets across the bowling attack. Backing up the bowling was a very energetic and positive fielding display, highlighted by a fantastic catch taken by Spencer Pitt despite being injured the ball before, and a fantastic reaction catch by keeper Alex GW. Restricting Cranbrook to 261-10 was a brilliant team effort, with notable efforts from Drew Kennedy and Haydn Emsley both taking 2 wickets each and Spencer Pitt with 3 wickets.

Batting in the gloom and rain Bearsted found it hard to score but Alex and Haydn got them off to a solid start adding 16 for no loss. The next two pairs of Spencer P / Nathan and Joe / Tom (Scotch Egg) found it hard going losing 4 wickets in the process. The tide started to turn with the next pair of Henry / Spencer BD who added 21 runs through super positive running between the wickets creating pressure and panic amongst the Cranbrook fielders. The final pair of Drew and Max came out needing 10 runs to secure victory, and despite some nail biting moments they saw Bearsted home to a score of 274-4, a victory by just 13 runs.

Man of the match was Spencer P with an all round excellent game. But every single player deserves praise for sticking together as a unit in gloomy conditions, with their energy and positivity key to a very good win.
