Bearsted 2s got the league season off to a winning start with a comfortable 54 run win at home over Eynsford.
Having lost the toss and been invited to bat first, skipper Tim Croom and Tim Lush demonstrated that it had been a long winter, by scratching around unconvincingly for the first 12 overs. Things got a little easier after that as the batting found some fluidity, as they compiled a stand of 147 before Tim Croom was first to depart for 68.
Tim Lush completed his own 50 soon after this, before he too went for 68. Allan Stroud (15*), Chris Filmer (18) and debutant Martin Daly (22*) all contributed well as the 2s reached 221/3 from their 40 overs.
After a tea provided by The Oak on the Green, Bearsted took to the field with Jack Feehan (2-20) and Harry Slevin (1-18) sharing the new ball and taking early wickets. Wickets fell at regular intervals with Paul Tinker (3-16) and Chris Filmer (2-49) reducing the visitors to 99-8 and making sure of the victory.
The Eynsford tail got them to 167/8 in 40 overs, but the result was not in doubt.
The league season is up and running with a good win, as the 2s moved on to Marden.
