With skipper Tim Croom playing in the 1s, Dave Vant again took over the reins. It was a pleasant change to have a full 11, including two father and son combinations.
Losing the toss to Speldhurst, Bearsted were asked to bat on a good wicket with the Green bathed in glorious sunshine.
Openers Chris Filmer (24) and Dan Skinner (15) both looked comfortable before they managed to chip full tosses straight to fielders.
Thereafter the batting was a little flaky. Steve Horrocks (14) after looking good initially also managed to get caught off a full toss.
Only young Tom Mullins showed the necessary application, batting well and hanging round for a solid 12, as wickets fell regularly.
The total of 91 was always going to be tough to defend.
Dave Vant bowled a tight 9 overs ably supported by Filmer and Horrocks. Two wickets were taken including a good catch by Tom Mullins, before Speldhurst reached their target in the 20th over. Arsenal fan Dan Skinner clearly wanted to watch the FA Cup Final, as his one over for 20 brought the the game to a swift conclusion and an 8 wicket loss for Bearsted.
The 2s travel to play Cudham Wyse 3s next week hoping to find winning ways.
