2nds defeated by Offham at home

The 2nd XI hosted Offham in a 40 match on the Green.

Having won the toss and elected to bat, Offham made a flying start against the bowling of Ben Lush and Jack Feehan, reaching 70 without loss in 10 overs. At one stage it looked like the home team would be chasing 300 or more.

Eventually Feehan found some form, as well as some luck picking up his first wicket of the season with a full toss "hitting the top of off", and following it up with a speculative LBW that was somehow given. Richard Sargent and Dave Patton both claimed 2 wickets in their 9 over spells, while Steve Horrocks picked up 4-19 (including 0-10 in his first 3 balls) as Offham reached 217 all out. Bearsted were helped in the field by the ball following Simon Barker (4 catches, no jug) and Ben Lush taking 2 catches including an excellent one handed effort at gully.

In response, Bearsted started well with Tim Croom and Dan Skinner putting on 50 for the opening partnership before Skinner (12) was bowled. Croom (46) followed soon after and despite Simon Barker (15), Dave Patton (12), Errol Chimanga (12) and James Kersey (12) all getting a start, no-one was able to really get themselves in as Bearsted were all out for 138 in the 31st over.

The league season starts for the 2nd XI on Saturday 6 May, away to Bidborough.
