On Sunday morning (20th May) the Bearsted Bears U9s took part in the Weald of Kent Kwik cricket tournament at Leeds & Broomfield CC.

The following is a short report on the event by coach Harry Slevin.

All of the boys played exceptionally well and managed to win 3 of the 5 games that they played even though we only had 7 players in an 8 a side competition. Our best score was 71 runs of just 32 balls. The total runs that we scored was 204 over just 5 games.

Some star moments were from Caleb who got 4 sixes which were one over cover, 2 cover drives and one pull shot. Rory also played very well and got an amazing caught & bowled and scored a four off every ball in one over. Angus made an incredible all-round contribution to the team by hitting 1 six, several fours and bowled very well. Max was one of the best bowlers taking at least 3 wickets and was very vocal in his calling when to run. Spencer had a great game with the bat as he hit some astounding cover drives which usually went for four. Oscar bowled very economically and was truly unlucky to not get more wickets. Marvin also did well for his first cricketing experience.

Well done to all those who played and represented Bearsted CC so well yet again. Some excellent and very encouraging performances from all.

Special thanks to Darren Benson-Dare, David Slevin and of course Harry Slevin for all their efforts in managing and coaching the boys.
